RiSAV Lab
The Audio Visual and Social Research Laboratory (RiSAV Lab) was created in order to deal with empirical researches related to the South Italy through the collection and processing of different data (images, video, audio); It hosts digital databases on the memory of the family and the memory of places.
In recent years the RiSAV Lab is developing new research paths mainly concerning innovative and traditional methods and techniques used in the social sciences. In particular, the activities of the laboratory are aimed at the collection, organization, processing, analysis of various types of information: visual (photos, videos, etc.), textual (interview transcripts, documents, etc.), statistical, digital data, etc. The laboratory promotes scientific activities supporting the education of students, undergraduates and research fellows through their involvement in empirical research practices and fostering the acquisition of competences in the field of methodology and techniques of social research, both quantitative and qualitative.
The main research areas of the RiSAV Lab are:
- methodology and epistemology of quantitative and qualitative methods; new frontiers of social research (digital methods, complexity);
- immigration, delinquency, adolescents, southern Italy and its representations, juvenile crime, social, sports, media etc.;
- practices of teaching methodology of the social sciences, with a focus on the relationship between new technology and learning.
II RiSAV Lab hosts the Cisus (Centro Interdipartimentale per la diffusione delle Scienze Umane e Sociali e per la costruzione del capitale umano) that plays an important role in the design and implementation of e-learning teaching; The laboratory is also involved in the implementation of national and European research projects, promoted by the Cisus and the Department of Political, Social and Communication Sciences.
